Bowhunting Equipment
No matter what type you get, just make sure (since you’re a beginner) that you get very BLUNT tipped arrows. Just incase you miss the target and hit your neighbor. Unless!!!
Bowhunting Equipment
Might want to consider going to a sportsmans store .. the larger ones typically have a target set-up where you can try out a few for weight and balance to find the size that is right for you. The staff can answer a lot of the model specific questions you wont know to ask unless you are actually holding the bow. I have gone to a store that had a hallway type lane sectioned off in the back where I could fling arrows 30 or 40 feet to test them out. Make a couple local phone calls before you make that expensive online purchase you might regret. You will get your money back.. but it would be a huge waste of time.
Archery Equipment
Don’t buy a bow online. You need to go to a sportsman’s store. There is such a thing as draw legnth and weight. You need to be measured and you need to try some different bows out for your self and make a decision. I know that my husband prefers a compound. There are a lot of really good brands out there but he has a preference for BowTech. they make a Mighty Mite and it’s one of his favoriets. My daughter like the long bow and jprefers that to a compound, although she does not hunt be target shoots with it.
I’m a shot gun and rifel shot myself.
Bowhunting Equipment
Yeah don’t buy a bow on-line you want to make sure you can pull the weight and the length and stuff are more important than you think, if your looking for a beginner bow, get a compound bow, they are by far the best and easiest to shoot/hunt with.. if your looking for a bow from $800-$900, that would be good for a beginner or a pro. get a Matthews Switchback XT. smoothest bow ive ever seen.. but if your looking for a cheap beginner one just go to a sporting goods store

Start off with a good old fiberglass recurve bow like you find at Walmart. Pull a few back and see how they feel. DON’T dry fire! Let the string back down gently!
If you can pull a fiberglass recurve about a dozen slow times in a row….not too hard to pull but still a good workout….then you can come on back here and pick one up off of Ebay usually in the $20 range. Shoot it in the back yard a bit and see if you like it. If it’s too light a draw, get one a bit heavier. Too short? Get one longer. What else needs to be said?
Don’t waste your money on ANYTHING from a store! Anything you buy there will be worth 1/4 that amount the second you take it out the door. Try Ebay if you don’t believe that. Also, DON’T buy compound crap right off! It might look cool to the kiddies but it’s like buying a Harley with training wheels welded on.

What with you bein’ a novice at the sport I would definitely not purchase one online, your best bet is ta’ go to good sports store where you can be fitted for the bow.
