    You have to take the instrument to a luthier and have it appraised. Look under “violin” in the Yellow Pages.

    look inside the f-hole for the markings on a paper. It will indicate the manufacturer, the s/n and the year.

    It depends on the quality, not how old it is. You should get it appraised by a luthier.

    My violin was made in 1915 and was appraised for $4,000. The bow that came with it was appraised for $800.
