bow hunting ground hogs?

Nate P asked:
Ground hogs are tearing up the foundation of my barn, so I need to get rid of them. I tried trapping them, but they learned to stay away from the traps. so im gonna hunt them. I have a twenty two, but bow hunting anything gives me more of a rush than gun hunting. So I have a few questions.
Even though season is year round state wide, what is the best time of year to hunt them?
Aluminum or carbon fiber arrows?
What kind of broad head?
What time of day?
Will a 50 lb draw strength work?
Any useful tactics or methods of hunting them, like still hunting, ground blinds or tree stands, or stalking?
Also, just out of curiosity, does anyone know if it is legal to bait for groundhogs in Kentucky?
Please note that i am not worried about being humane or ethical when hunting these damn giant rats, I only want them gone, and plus I already tried being humane by trapping them. Please be truthful and state source, thanks.

Can someone recommend a good ground blind for a bow hunter in Alabama?

* You lost my input when you said; ” I am not worried about being Humane, or Ethical when Hunting them.”…Very bad attitude.*

Man, if it were me, I would use the 22 to just get rid of them, because my barn is worth more than any thrill of hunting. But, if you insist on using a bow, then yes 50 lbs is more than sufficient. They make these points called judo points for varmints. The arrow and type depends on the bow you have. As far as baiting them, I have no idea, but if you want to get rid of them, just pop them with the 22 and be done with it.

You seem a little confused. Are you looking to make this a challenging pastime or are you looking to exterminate vermin that are undermining and destroying your property? From the perspective of this farm boy you simply kill groundhogs under a barn as expeditiously as possible. You poison them.

Living on a farm if something was tearing up my barn I would greet it with a .22 or 12 GA or .40 S&W or 20GA or .223 or whatever firearm I could get quick. I wouldn’t care if baiting them was legal or not because the fine is a whole hell of a lot cheaper then building a new barn. I would likely hav-a-hart trap them and take them out back and shoot them.
If you want hunt them, I believe that is usually done with a rifle at 50-100 yards. If you want to get rid of them use a cage trap and pull them out of the barn and shoot them in the head. Or pay someone to come in and get rid of them.
Another thing Tree stands to get rid of something in your barn? Are you serious? Ground blinds?
No, No, No, .22 around dusk. A box of cartridges and a shovel all you need if you don’t want to use the other way.

check with the old people around there a lot of them when i was a kid said bring them buy i eat them so don’t let them go to waste they would give me enough to get more shells

1. carbon arrows all the way they dont bend like aluminum ones do
2. any broadhead will work i like fixed blades like a 4 blade muzzy
3. early morning or late evening
4. yes a 50 pound will go right through a whistle pig
5. i prefer still hunting them for practical purposes but stalking is more fun
and if all else fails just bring out the old .22
